La Costa Resort and Spa sits on 400 rolling acres in the coastal foothills of Carlsbad, 30 minutes north of San Diego. It is 90 minutes south of Los Angeles.

DESCRIPTION

La Costa Resort and Spa is a 610-room resort, with comprehensive spa, golf and tennis facilities, nestled among the beautiful coastal foothills of Carlsbad, north of San Diego. The property has undergone a $140 million renovation which includes the new Spa at La Costa, the Costa Del Sol Ballroom, a new Clubhouse, newly remodeled guestrooms, enhancements to the golf course and new walkways and landscaping to create a village-like ambience.  La Costa has also added a chic restaurant serving the freshest in California cuisine called BlueFire Grill and have recently renovated Legends Bistro.  In Spring 2007, La Costa debuted Splash Landing, a pool complex for the whole family with slides, toddler pool, interactive water feature and a full service Café.  New resort villas, offer a home-like atmosphere and space for the whole family as well as a state of the art kitchen and fireplaces.  La Costa Resort and Spa is legendary among spa aficionados and professional and amateur golf and tennis players. The first resort in the U.S. with a full-service spa when it opened nearly 40 years ago, La Costa recently became home to the world-renowned Chopra enter.

The only resort in Southern California with two tournament-caliber golf courses, it has a 40 year tournament history, and is the former site of the World Golf Championships - Accenture Match Play Championship.  The tennis center is home to Mike Casey, Pro to the Stars, and is best known for his work with such big names in the entertainment industry as Phil Knight, Stone Phillips and Adam Sandler.  His clinics have included the likes of Roger Federer and Patrick McEnroe.  La Costa hosted the Women’s Acura Classic Tournament for more than 17 years. 

ACCOMMODATIONS

La Costa Resort and Spa offers 610 spacious and well-appointed guestrooms, including deluxe one-two and three-bedroom luxury villas, each with its own state-of-the-art kitchen, large marble baths and fireplaces.  Each room or suite overlooks the resort’s well-manicured grounds and/or golf course. Rich wood, plush fabrics and leather accents create a warm, sophisticated ambience. Bathrooms are especially large and designed with imported marble.

Rooms

Golf
For some, that’s what it’s all about. And for them, the new La Costa is the quintessential destination. Previous home to the Accenture Matchplay Championships, La Costa features a pair of courses designed by Dick Wilson. And these two beautiful courses boast a heritage that includes the likes of Nicklaus, Woods, and Palmer. It’s a golf enthusiast’s dream. Just don’t forget everything else La Costa has to offer. Those things may come in handy if you’re traveling with someone less passionate about this great game.

Tennis
La Costa Resort and Spa has 17 tennis courts and two playing surfaces –clay (four) and hard court (15). There are seven lighted courts for night play. The resort has a tennis stadium for tournaments. The La Costa Tennis Club offers clinics, lessons, daily workouts.

Recreation
Tennis, swimming, personal training… the choices alone will raise your heart rate. Indeed, La Costa offers seemingly endless opportunities for exercise and recreation. There are 17 tennis courts, with multiple surfaces available. Seven inviting pools and multiple Jacuzzis around the property.  And an exceptional fitness center with the latest equipment and group classes as well as one-on-one training. In fact, there may be as many ways to exercise as there are to relax. Which is as it should be. And precisely why La Costa is the celebrated destination it is. With all that this magnificently renovated resort has to offer, you won’t find more thoroughly fulfilling accommodations under the sun.

WINE AND DINE

  • Legends Bistro offers a tempting array of home cooked favorites and comfort food for the whole family, as well as menu items based on the ayurvedic-style cuisine of the Chopra Center. Indoor and outdoor seating is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Splash Poolside Bar & Café features light fare poolside.  Open seasonally every day, or Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for beverages (seasonal).
  • The Spa Café is located in the outdoor spa courtyard and features a variety of lifestyle cuisine, juices, and smoothies.
  • BlueFire Grill, a 324-seat dinner only restaurant, was designed by the well-reputed Puccini Restaurant Group of San Francisco, which has over 100 restaurants worldwide to its credit,  BlueFire Grill will be the centerpiece of the new plaza that wends its way from La Costa’s lobby and clubhouse, past boutiques, to its dramatic new spa. In terms of the menu, diners will find flavorful, innovative fare which takes full advantage of Southern California’s fresh seafood and seasonal vegetables. Savory meats, inspiring pastas, and delectable cheeses will also be featured.

CLUB MEMBERSHIPS
The Club at La Costa offers Signature Golf Memberships and Signature Sports Memberships that give whole families an assortment of resort privileges. These include access to the resort’s two golf courses, complimentary tennis, use of the fitness center and pool, preferred pricing on food, beverages and spa services and daily kid’s camp.

ADDITIONAL RECREATION
Jogging and walking trails wind through the resort’s grounds. Guests can use the sports field, relax with a game of croquet or challenge their friends at the resort’s sand-pit volleyball court. The resort also features four heated swimming pools and a total of nine private pool cabanas with amenities, including: sliding curtains for complete privacy, chaise lounge chairs, unlimited access to high speed internet, food and beverage service and dining table with chairs.

CAMP LA COSTA
The children of La Costa guests can enjoy Camp La Costa, which offers youngsters aged 3-12 (out of diapers) supervised activities year-round. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Babysitting services for children under three can be arranged through the concierge. Night Camp is also offered between the hours of 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

MEETING AND BANQUET FACILITIES
La Costa Resort and Spa features approximately 100,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting and banquet space in two facilities: the La Costa Conference Center and the new Costa Del Sol Ballroom, which opened in November 2003. The facilities feature sophisticated on-site audio/visual capabilities. There is also a full service business center. The resort’s dedicated Conference Services Team helps meeting planners create a flawless meeting. The La Costa Conference Center offers 40,000 square feet comprising 15 rooms of varying sizes on two levels, as well as the 8,140 square foot Poinsettia Ballroom on the upper level, which can be divided into three smaller rooms and a theater that seats 190 people on the lower level. The new 18,000-square-foot Costa Del Sol Ballroom, which is North San Diego County’s largest, can be divided into smaller meeting rooms of varying sizes. The resort’s conference facilities are remarkable for their many windows, terraces and balconies with panoramic views of the golf course and grounds. There are also verandas and poolside patios for outdoor events and team building.

TECHNOLOGY
High-speed internet access is available in all guest rooms and is included in the daily resort fee. Wireless internet hot spots are available on the resort grounds in various locations.
